About Me |
I grew up next door in Old Bridge and moved to Sayreville in 1995. During my childhood I was actively involved in various sports and played with and against Old Bridge and Sayreville teams. I continue to remain active both as a player and a coach for my daughter's teams. I attended Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, NJ. I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Technology Management and a Master's Degree in Technology Management and Engineering Management; both from Stevens. During my career I spent time consulting for major companies such as the Federal Reserve Bank, Bank of Tokyo, AT&T, and IBM to name a few. My service to these companies was as a computer programmer, project manager, and management trainer. Seeking more personal fulfillment, I decided to change careers in 2002, and began formally working in education. Since then I have completed a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership and currently hold NJ State Department of Education certifications for Math, Science, Supervisor, Principal, and Business Administration. I have been teaching at Sayreville War Memorial High School since 2006. My philosophy is simple. I expect and require students to put forth their best effort at all times. Modern psychology and adolescent development experts strongly support the notion of "natural consequences". This simply means that for every action a person takes, there was a decision made to take that action, and there are natural or defined consequences (both good and bad) of that decision. It comes down to accepting responsibility for our actions and the resulting consequences. If one wishes to succeed, then effort must be made. If one chooses to dismiss the rules and requirements for success, then one needs to accept the results of that decision. There is no pointing fingers or assigning blame to others for our actions. Students are held to academic and performance standards. Students grades are largely based on their ability to perform the academic problem solving tasks with which they are challenged with a degree of completion and accuracy. Critical thinking, as well as the application of knowledge, tools, and resources are the keys to success. While every individual has their unique interests and strengths, I believe every student has the ability to succeed. Each must commit to the effort, seek help when it is needed, and take responsibility for the outcome. I am committed to putting forth my best in the classroom and to providing as much support as possible to every student. I expect that every student commit to the effort of learning. Success is within the student. I am their guide. I will provide my knowledge and experience. The student must provide the effort required of learning. |
